Preprint "Evaluating the Wegener-Bergeron-Findeisen process in ICON in large-eddy mode with in situ observations from the CLOUDLAB project"

A new preprint from CLOUDLAB is available at the EGUsphere that investigates the Wegener-Bergeron-Findeisen process in ICON-LES and compares it with the in-situ measurements.

A new preprint is available from Nadja Omanovic et al at the EGUsphere for public review. Within, the Wegener-Bergeron-Findeisen (WBF) process, namely the growth of ice crystals at the expense of liquid droplets is investigated with ICON-LES (Icosahedral Nonhydrostatic Weather and Climate Model model in Large eddy simulation mode) and evaluated with respect to the in-situ measurements. From the model runs it can be seen that the WBF is generally not efficient enough, despite implementation of a more modern activation scheme. external pageRead more here
